I wanted to remember them as they are two women whom I remember with love and kindness. I came to France in 2005 and experienced a complete change of circumstances whereby art and creative activities had to take second place. The current novel evolved from my interest in the history of the local region and profound interest in the nature of existence and alternative theories of evolution. The Sentient Shield was written as a way of formulating my ideas. The Sentient Shield is a work of fiction brought together from highly speculative sources, most of which have been challenged by the scientific community since the 1950s. The storyline concerns a journey by Maddy, the central character, towards an event called the Alignment: a specific time in the evolution of earth’s history where earth plays a pivotal part in the overall evolution of the universe. At the point of Alignment, earth and the universe of which it is a part is enabled to ascend to a higher spiritual dimension.
